30 years ago, I was a student of Herbology and Psychology at the University of Lethbridge and the Wild Rose College of Natural healing. It was a perfect combination of holistic and mainstream education. I was a practicing counsellor for children and families; and over the years, I referred often to my holistic training and the teachings of the Indigenous people.

Living in the territory of the traditional land of the Blackfoot people, and becoming an honorary member of the tribe; I naturally was held by the Traditional teachings of our Blackfoot Elders. My son, Jared, was named “Kisoum” after Grand-Mother Moon as he was a gift from my beloved Moon!

Through a natural affiliation to Mother Earth, her gift of plants; and the synchronicity of all the Elements working together, I began using herbs and plants for medicine in combination with allopathic medicine; only for family and friends.

Fast forward….I Recognized that all my verified knowledge, experiences, and intuition are valuable! So, I offered many of my ‘tried and true’ herbal formulas to the general public in addition to family and friends! My son, and my good friends were all like: “ Karen, your medicine for —- tastes like sh** but it really works!!”

My personal growth journey has been long, like others! And, I have learned that when my souls journey is ‘right’ that the path will open!

I retired from counselling and continued to experiment with many of my herbal product ideas for external use. Many of these products I originally made for myself and family; such as the “Owie Salve” and the “Limb-R-Up” arthritis salve. I was already purchasing another herbalists rose face cream, so I thought, why not make my own!? Same for the herbal deodorant.

I have had so much support from my husband, Sister circles, family, friends, and my testers! My hubby is always there for me - like when the crop of Mountain Arnica pops up overnight and we spend our day harvesting instead of kayaking. I am very blessed to be able to do what I love and make a little bit of money doing it!

It is not easy to be vulnerable. I believe we all have a story to share.

This journey is far from complete! I’m always learning, always growing (I hope! :) and am honored to share with you!
